Peloponnese wine tour, 7 day trip


Discover the treasures of Greece’s largest wine region

Harvest of ‘Agiorgitiko’, the red variety of Nemea is mid to late September, while the white ‘Moschofilero’ is harvested late October.  The autumn tours have a chance to take part in this unique celebration Every region in the Peloponnese has vineyards, producing wines (whites, reds, roses and dessert) with distinct character and identity: Nemea is the first region we will visit -considered the ‘star’ among the wine regions, Argolis and Mantineia further south.  Τo the west we will taste the land of king Nestor and Achaia.  In Kalamata we will enjoy some of the tastiest olive oils and olives, along with local sweet and savoury delicacies.
We will learn about Greek wine, we will taste wonderful food and wines, we will experience the authentic hospitality of the locals and leave with beautiful memories and new friends!  Enjoy the journey!

DAY 1: Athens
Early morning arrival at Athens Int Airport ‘El. Venizelos’.  Meet office representative and transfer with private bus and assistance at centrally located hotel in the old city, Plaka.  Check-in and short, walking orientation of the area. Group welcome dinner at selected restaurant.  Overnight with breakfast at Hotel Herodion or similar (D)

DAY 2: Athens-Nemea-Nauplion
Early morning departure with private bus and private tour host towards Pelloponese.  Stop at the Corinth Canal and marvel at this enginnering project from the 19th century that effectively made the Pelloponese penninsula an island! Continue to Nemea, the mythical land of Hercules. Nemea is well known for producing super reds with bursting red fruits, sweet spices and notable rose wines . The cultivated grape is Agiorgitiko, a red variety.  We will visit wineries that truly represent the region.  We will travel to picturesque seaside town Nauplion, for free afternoon and overnight.  Dinner on your own.  Hotel Marianna or similar (B,L)

DAY 3: Nauplion-Mantineia-Kalamata
A day dedicated to the whites! We will depart after breakfast to Mantineia and visit 3 wineries that each produce award winning whites and sparkling wines.  We will then travel for approx. 2 hours to reach the beautiful Kalamata, known for its exceptional olive oil, olives and figs!  Free afternoon and overnight in Kalamata at Hotel Filoxenia or similar (B,L)

DAY 4: Kalamata-Pylos
We will taste the treasures of the area, its famous olive oil and figs.  Messene, an important state-city from antiquity was blessed with good climate and soil.  We will taste fruit liquers and local delicacies.  We will take a short bus ride to the qauint seaside town of Pylos where we will stretch and overnight.  (B,D)

DAY 5: Pylos-Costa Navarino
A day of free time and pampering! Soak up on the sun and swim at the award winning, beautiful beach of Costa Navarino! Optional sunset wine tasting of selected Greek wines from the Aegean Islands.  Dinner Included. Overnight at Costa Navarino. (B, D)

DAY 6: Costa Navarino-Patras-Athens
Early morning departure with our private bus, to complete the full circle of this wine adventure and the Pelloponese peninsula.  Our last visit will be at the oldest winery in Greece, tasting its magical world renowned dessert wines. Achaia Clauss winery will be our last winery visit, before reaching Athens early afternoon.  We will have our closing Farewell Dinner at a wonderful restaurant overlooking the Acropolis and sharing our favorite moments of the trip along with good wine!  Overnight at Hotel Herodion or similar (B,D)

DAY 7: Athens-Home
Pending on flight schedule, private bus transfer with assistance to Athens Int. airport.
